Hi guys, The producer I write for thinks about hiring an additional writer - has to be British or Canadian and willing to relocate to the Caribbean.

I`m Canadian -- with British heritage two generations back -- my cousins seem to have no problem working and living over in the UK there so perhaps I qualify! What kind of project are you guys developing (my question mark button has seemingly broken...)

It is an 1 hour Drama, with a touch of suspense/irony/comedy, in the vein of Hart To Hart meets Desperate Housewives. I need someone to team with me, because, from the initial 13 episodes it just went to 22, to start shooting in June next year, and the pilot and episode 2 to be shot in November. I need someone with lean writing, with a team spirit - no drama queen and no lone ranger who thinks he knows better than everybody else - we don't have time for that. The producer has the last word, and he supervises the writing. He absolutely wants to have all of the team on the island (Saint Martin), because all of his operations will be concentrated here from now on. It is a production for American TV, to be sold to French TV as well.

Hi Yana,
Sounds exciting -- I`ve got a script on here right now if you`d like to peruse a writing sample -- It`s called This Joyful Season -- I can handle straight comedy to heavy drama and pretty fair at wistful - lighthearted without getting heavy-handed. I love working with other writers and my style is generally to make sure my partner is excited about an idea before we move forward -- I don`t care who comes up with it -- I`m all about serving the story and setting the actors up for success with great material -- I`m not terribly concerned if nobody knows my name at the end of a shoot... and as a side note -- I`m a perfectionist but work pretty fast and know when to let the material go out on its own...
Anyhow, feel free to contact me if you have time to peruse the script or have any questions.
Regards,
Darren Manns

Hi Yana,

I'm a young British writer, having graduated with a Media Practice degree (specializing in screen drama) two years ago. I'm very interested in the opportunity and would certainly have no qualms about relocating to the Caribbean (have you seen the weather over here!?).

If you are interested in reading either of the scripts I have uploaded to Talentville then please request a read and I will approve it asap. I have a third completed feature script but feel it needs some tweaking so haven't let it see the light of day as yet. Additionally I have written two shorts, one produced as a drama, the other a short sci-fi/drama submitted to Channel 4's "Coming Up" scheme for 2013.

If you have any other questions, feel free to drop me a message.

Cheers,
Pete

Hi Yana,

I'm British living in France and can relocate to the West Indies easily for a few weeks/months.

I wonder if your project is an American take on the excellent BBC's 'Murder in Paradise'? In the brief outline it sounds like it could be similar.

If it is similar to the above then I would like to put myself forward. I can do it because:

I'm a writer

I'm British

Being resident in France for eleven years I have a good grasp on French culture/language

I don't have anything to prove so I'm quite happy to play second fiddle.

And I have one other attribute that I will, if you are interested, divulge privately.

Regards

Francis Connor

Hi Yana,

Is this thread still open? Looks like it's been a week since anyone posted.

I'm very British. Just finished my MA in English Literature, I've got a pilot script up here if you'd be interested in taking a look at a sample (which is also very British).

I'm currently a Talent Scout for the BBC (also pretty British).

Thank you all for replying to my call for help!

We had a chance to look at quite a few writing samples and a writer has been chosen, for now. Nevertheless, we will certainly be looking for more writing stuff before the end of the year, so please stay tuned for future threads. I will definitely keep you all in mind for the next time.
