Sadness Abounds

Posted: Nov 26, 2023

This is an interesting window into life in the post-WWII Soviet Union...interesting but not very compelling. That it matches pretty much every stereotype I've had of this period made me wonder how accurate it was in its depiction...but that is on me, not the writer. Sadness abounds. Sad characters. Sat situations. Sad living conditions. Sad working conditions. Sad story. And, finally a sad resolution despite their prison 'reunion'. Dead Reds is an appropriate title. The writing isn't very lean which explains the excessive length...mostly in the...

Good habits are easy to break.

Concept: I like the concept. I can\'t tell from the pilot if you have all the rules worked out. The most obvious being where does the conscience of the \'host\' go? Other things can wait till later episodes: Why she, or Anise, can\'t get the wimple off. You might want to ramp up the difficulty of the switch by making Monica keep her voice. could be hilarious if she transports into a gang body and ends up screaming like a girl. Story: It\'s a pilot so intro of characters and the premise take precedent but you might what to take on a simpler \...

Novella is a novel script.

I have to say right off that generically festive, multicultural, and non-religious specific, Winter holiday movies are a guilty pleasure for me… especially the ones with Santa. And I watched a ton of them this season. And even the bad ones aren’t so much bad as they are simply clichéd to the hilt, which simply means they have great appeal to children and simpletons like me. Your movie has a nice hook… a Christmas wish with makeup magic results. Dialog: The good: Most of the banter was wonderful. The bad: Not sure if the multitude of ...

bridesmaid By RachelMacaulay I cringed when I saw that your script was 124 pages. Found out why very quickly. The novel writing style is pretty but it will annoy script readers. Example: p.1: EXT. DOWNING STREET - NIGHT Then you immediately tell us- again- …rainy night… on Downing Street, Might try: EXT. DOWNING STREET, LONDON - NIGHT A light from one of the windows cuts through the rain. p.1: \"The younger....across the desk\' Might try: NERVOUS MAN (late 30\'s, handsome) leans in. Then: CALM MAN (mid-forties, clean-shaven, s...

You've Been Chopped!

I guess you can tell by the title of this review that I, too, am a Food Network Fan. But I have to disagree with you that there is something about a seemingly positive person’s melt down that catches your attention and draws you in. Like a train wreck, you just can\'t look away. I had no trouble looking away. I read it twice to see why. While the concept can work you have to have a good presentation. I think your protag wasn\'t properly prepared. You have to cook up something early that not only makes us care about him but gives us a taste of...

Something to Fawn over.

Well done with an economy of words that made action scenes flow smoothly and quickly. Very few noticeable mistakes (patch vs path on p2). I\'m curious if there is a source for your creatures or if you just asked yourself what would happen if Pan had sex with Dracula. Your story seems to be a compilation of the two. With more of the beasty nature of pan and less of the sex appeal of Dracula. The minimalistic sex only enough to get the clean kill may be disappointing to some. Although they exude sensuality, with that wet opening and physical at...
