Not a bad start, but

Your concept didn\'t really sell me. And the genre isn\'t one of my favourites. I only read the first ten pages, so I\'m judging based solely on those. I didn\'t really know what the script was about. There were a lot of characters introduced very early on so it was hard to form an opinion on the ones that mattered like Miano. In your summary, you say he\'s struggling to get over a morphine addiction, but I didn\'t really sense any of that. Dialogue was good. Wasn\'t too dull or expository. I was a bit concerned with the V.O. bits, but if use...

A Lot Like Other Movies We've Seen

Posted: May 24, 2012

CONCEPT Don\'t know if I would classify it as a family movie, due to the adult themes and references, but perhaps family-friendly is more suitable. I\'ve passed over a lot of scripts to review lately so thumbs up for a solid, unique concept. I kind of knew where the script was going to end up from the get go, but that\'s generally the case for a dramedy or family movie. STORY A pretty episodic narrative, jumping from one situation to the next. I have mixed feelings. I enjoyed the diverse bunch of helpful characters and the overall pacing of th...

A strong writing sample.

I was really excited to read this script after seeing all the promising reviews and was glad to get it as an assignment. My comments are only my honest opinion, and shouldn\'t deter you from whatever approach you want to take with your script. That being said, I really liked this script, and I think you have a lot of talent. Concept is probably a little polarising. I can see many people being turned off by this genre, though I wasn\'t. It\'s a tough sell, and there aren\'t really any ORIGINAL fantasy movies that are being made these days. The...

Pink Slip

Screenplay • 88 Pages | Comedy, Drama

A pleasant read, but nothing more.

Posted: May 01, 2012

CONCEPT These days, a lot of comedy-romance films are R-rated, are a bit naughty, and a lot of fun, so I was expecting something like that. Sadly, Pink Slip was none of those things, and I was disappointed that you took the seemingly easier route. That being said, the logline is pretty solid, but hardly ground-breaking. STORY Simple enough to be your ordinary chick-flick. Woman wants coveted job, has to fire her crush to get it, ends up getting the best of both worlds. Predictable, but sure to please a lot of people. The story was well-paced a...

The Mover - Review

Posted: Apr 23, 2012

I wasn\'t too excited to read the script, especially after reading the storyline section on the script\'s page. It had a few too many punctuation issues; not a good start for your review. CONCEPT Not a bad concept, but nothing I\'d put aside other things just to give it a read. There is some potential for a light action comedy, but it all depends on what angle you decide to take. The humour in the story barely exists, so I\'m guessing you\'re more interested in the action side of it. There are some funny moments, mostly from the mob people, ...

Meh.

CONCEPT Not too bad. Your \'Series Description\' indicates that your lead has a strong personality. Marketability-wise, Family/Drama combo is a tough sell. The script or treatment would have to be kick-ass, offer something different to hook us in. Your episode synopsis didn\'t grab my attention, and if this wasn\'t an assignment, I wouldn\'t take the time to give it a read. STORY Lacks the wow-factor. It\'s a drama, so that\'s understandable, but the story never grabbed my attention. Not even once. Your opening is rushed and fails to set up th...

Needs to be appreciated for what it is.

Your \'synopsis\' didn\'t really give much details on the story, so i wasn\'t sure what to expect. I just have to say that I had a lot of fun reading this script and was able to put aside the silliness of it all and enjoy it for what it is. You open with a pretty violent scene, then finish it with a humorous twist, which sets the tone for the rest of your story. I was pretty hooked by the opening scene, and did laugh a bit to myself. You explored Gary\'s problems well, although I do think you can add something to make him hate his family more...
