I like to check the author\'s bio before doing a review so I know what I\'m getting into. If I see someone is like me - self taught - I tend to be more lenient than for someone who - like you - has more formal education in script and film. Not to say I\'m a hardnose, but you should be able to avoid the common pitfalls that catch us newbies. A quick note. I\'m using an old laptop since mine died, and the \"U\" key sticks so you may see a word missing one. Scks to be me. :-) What I can say is I\'m impressed that you have a script that is relativ...

Rest review

When I got your script to review I checked your profile. I was glad to see you graduated with honors from a screenwriting program and had such extensive experience with the aspects of reviewing, editing, etc. I figured I wouldn\'t have to worry about format and grammar, just story as a potential viewer. Needless to say I expected more from you than a newbie like me who learned from books. I do have positives about your script, but can hardly believe the negatives it contains. My review will cover what I learned from books, reviews and consult...

El Feo review

First thing I do when I get an assignment is check the profile of the writer so I know what, if any, experience s/he has. Yours is sparse, so I looked at the reviews you gave. It looked like you were well versed in screenwriting so I didn’t expect too many issues in the script. I’ll give you my impressions of your script as I read it. First thing I notice is no page numbers on your script. Was that intentional? It’s going to make it a bit difficult to find where some comments may be. In your first action sequence I’d suggest different ...

Falling down review

Whenever I\'m assigned a script by a film student I expect more than from an average person like myself. I feel that you should be better than I am since you\'ve had the benefit of professional instruction. That being said, I review film student scripts as if they weren\'t because I\'ve found no real difference. No offense intended btw. I\'ll go over the categories then give examples. CONCEPT: Overall fairly interesting. Other movies have made some reference to the loneliness cops sometimes face, but yours take it head on. I like how you show ...

Closure review

I’m also a horror writer and was glad to get an assignment in my genre. My reviews are pretty straightforward. I give initial reactions as well as break down the review into sections. As I am self taught, my comments on format are based on what I’ve read in the Screenwriter’s Bible, other books and on the ‘net. Other comments are my opinion and you know what they say about those. The synopsis you gave was promising. That’s good because as you know, that and the logline are what gets someone to read further. I had a hard time reading ...

Operator review

This is the first review I\'ve done in quite a while, so you get the benefit of all my pent up know-it-allness! :-) This is a bit different than the way I usually do reviews which is to write on the pdf and email it to you so it won\'t be nearly as in depth, but you’ll get the points I want to make. With the exception of spelling errors, the rest is my personal opinion so use what you wish and feel free to tell me to shove the rest. LOL I appreciate that once you get the action started you work to keep it going. Some lulls in the action are ...

War review

Heya, Quick info on my reviews. I give a more in depth review for the first pages, then general comments on story and other things as I read. Usually a line by line at first. The better the script, the more pages but 10 is usually the limit. A full line by line would take way too long and there are pros you can get to do that. Here goes. Pg 1. “…the news anchor reports the news” is a redundancy. That’s what anchors do. A simple word phrase could fix it. Travis resumes what? Pacing or packing. I’m guessing packing. Try to avoid...
