Stuck In The Room, Nowhere To Go

Posted: Jan 30, 2019

Death Room I'll give some merit for attempting a script set in primarily a single location from start to finish. A...small single location.  In a place around it that could be also explored, but isn't. But with the writer(s) struggles with English, there's a lot of grammar issues, and even without them the script reads like an extremely rough draft. Much of the script contains a lot of talking heads, characters who are bland and passive (aside from one, Cathie) and most notably. missed opportunities.  If you're going to have a title l...

Onion Witch

Short Script • 12 Pages | Horror

The evening has reached its conclusion

Posted: Jan 29, 2019

Overall, Onion Witch is  a nice little short horror tale,  and with few locations, probably something that could be filmed on a no-nothing budget. That said, at seven pages, it feels a bit too short. I don't expect big explanations, answers to the unknown or anything like that, but what I would have liked a bit more of is a sense of rules for this tale. I never quite understood why Paul wasn't aware he was bleeding badly from his shaving cuts to begin with, and when he is the witch's store, when it is even more out of control, he does...

Bonnie's tale of woe

Posted: Feb 11, 2018

I don't think the script is "horror" although most of the events in the script are horrible.  It gets to the point where, as a reader, there is a part of me that wants an answer to a basic question, (What was Bonnie's crime that put her on Death Row?) another part of me that grew tired of Bonnie being extremely passive,  other characters being one dimensional, a confusing timeline,  and then , eventually, explicit events which quite simply are a big turn off for any reader. Or writer.  I strongly advise the writer (s) to go ...

It's not just the house that's haunted.

Posted: Dec 07, 2016

Infernal has some strength in keeping the overall story self contained with a few locations. I'm also sure some might like the family element and the looming threat of the ghosts and/or demons. The addition of the money hungry (yet unrealistic) real estate agent/landlord Shelley combined with the rest reminds one (such as myself) of the original 1982 Poltergiest.  However, as I read the script, on occasion I had to go back and check the synopsis. Is the house that's haunted...or is it the knife? And do we really need demons in the sc...

MMA Fantasy horror needs work - and clarity

Posted: Nov 21, 2016

The script starts off with an odd setup, as it seems to take place in ancient ties but there's a fighter with "UFC" tattoos. It turns out that this was a relative of our main protagonist Jimmy who once fought professionally but since an infraction got him banned from UFC fights, he's been short tempered since and working retail. After page 20, I wished I would have seen glimpses of that fight or action that got him banned. As it stands, it is really  hard to care about, root for this character. Even MMA fighter Connor Macgregor has a mouth...

The Forest Is Mine

Posted: Dec 15, 2015

Tick Of The Moon is a nice attempt to have a story that foceses on the inner psyche of two people who are werewolves. One is Thake, who is the main character and the other is Elyse, who was attacked by Thake and survived his wolf attack. Both are haunted by visions and/or voices of demons that  appear frequently in the script. Both have a lot of self reflection, wierd dreams and distorted memories. Some of this is intresting, but the visuals - like silver bullets causing the skin to birn- and the surrealistic tone gets lost in the &nb...

Which bite is worse?

Posted: Nov 22, 2015

Think of all the things in vampire lore you have at your disposal. There is a scene late in the script where the still human father of the brother-sister vampire is bit by a zombie. For most of the script, the duo have been on the run, even though they seem to handle great numbers of zombies between the two of them simply by using long pointy fingernails. For those not killed by zombies, the vampire duo kills people. Hardly heroic. Hardly sympathetic. Barely interesting. But here’s a chance to actually save someon! And earlier there was a...
