Well, Cheyenne, it depends whether you have any good stories to tell.  Plenty of teenagers have written best sellers, and I am sure some of our members can come up with some younger folks who have written screenplays that have been produced.

The one thing to be sure of, other than having a great story that would make a movie people would want to see, is the technical aspects of writing, both the format and the structure of a script that allows the story to unfold in a way that keeps an audience interested.  I figure you know about (but I will still mention) all the great screenwriting books out there that clarify the components of most successful scripts.  John Truby, Robert McKee, Blake Snyder and many others have written really books about the craft of screenwriting, which is very different than novel writing.

So, the short answer is clearly no, it is never too early to start crafting stories and working on putting them into script form.

Cheyanne, it's great to have you here on TV! Welcome! I started screenwriting when I was 17 as well and it's never too early to start a writing career. In fact, it's great you're thinking about it at a young age because a lot of writers don't get started until much later in their lives. If I can give one tip that would be to read as many scripts as you can. It's integral to the learning process and helps you to find the faults in your own work, therefore learning how to avoid them. Again, glad you're here and I look forward to reading your work and reviews!

No! You are not too young to start your career as a writer. I could say I began when I had 13, but just for myself. If I think better in that moment I will started just right away. Make a research on Internet..."Young writers" and you will see!  :) My recommendation: Write, and write, practice, and practice, read, learn, take classes. Also you can start a blog.

With 17 you can find a good University with courses for writers.

Hopefully this help you to make a wise decision. My best for you!
