I have volunteer/professional writing experience working as a journalist from 1992-2000. Publications include, Scarborough Mirror, News Dimensions (U.S.A), Pride Magazine, and Jamaica Voice, respectively. Since then I have written a novel, a screenplay, a TV pilot, and one 5 min short that I filmed.
In April 2009 I graduated from Toronto Media and Film College with a diploma in Film Production Arts. It was basic training in cinematography, editing with Final Cut Pro, and being part of a production crew, from Producer to PA. The film history course showed how the point of it all is to create filmic art.
The primary camera used for my training at Toronto Media and Film College was the Panasonic AG-HCx200, all the students had to become familiar with it while learning different set ups. Learning to use the Panasonic included using P2 cards, Firestore 100, using tripods, laying dolly tracks and acting as focus puller.
In addition, the cinematography instructor, Kit Whitmore, introduced us to Kino Flo’s (1-4) banks; soft box light kits, pepper lights, diffusions and various types of gels: along side different types of clamps and grip accessories…mafer’s, cardellini’s etc…and their applications in different lighting set ups.
My training at Toronto Media Film College has given me a basic understanding in the three phases of filmmaking and compliments my deeper and more developed experience as a writer. I welcome the opportunity to work with other film professionals and look forward to meeting at your leisure.
