The Normals

Patrick Caine is your average American teenager, struggling to transition from a disastrous childhood to a poorly defined adulthood. His chances for a bright future are jeopardized by his emotionally disturbed mother and her affair with his sister’s 17 year old prom date, his knack for finding trouble at school, and the unique company he keeps: Glenda the Good Witch, the Cowardly Lion, and the Tin Man. The story opens in the midst of an onstage brawl during Patrick's high school performance of The Wizard of Oz. Patrick, dressed as the Tin Man, holds his axe over the Mayor of Munchkinland, but before he brings it down the lights go out. The story turns to the previous few days, explaining the series of events that led Patrick to that moment onstage, eventually coming round to the scene once more where we see it play out to the end. The story ends with an answer to the question: is Patrick Caine a killer?
