The Pool

Eight year old Archie Mortimer who has lived in a small close-knit Dartmoor village all his life, is content in his sheltered fantasy-filled world which he shares with his middle-aged neighbour, Pete, a jaded incomer who also happens to hold a torch to Archie’s mum, Ellie.

A walk to a local beauty spot, The Pool, reveals a mysterious reflection of a strange boy which results in Archie’s fantasy world and reality merging into one. He looks to an old book for answers but instead slips deeper into the fantasy, with strange and foreboding characters breaching his world, coinciding with his estranged alcoholic father, Jim, returning to claim back his family, and face some of his own demons.

As his father tries to re-enter his life, he slips further away from those close to him not knowing who to trust, and tries to connect with the otherworld, and the strange ‘waterboy’, believing him to be a friend..

As Ellie comes to terms with Jim’s return and is slowly convinced he has changed his ways, she begins to fall for him all over again. The impending restoration of Jim at the head of the household is too much for Archie and he decides to make a choice that will change everyone’s lives for ever.
