The Orchid with the Petals of Velvet

The script opens at HALO club as a gorgeous very sought after porn star/stripper (RUBY) takes the stage in front of an eager male audience. After her set she approaches a young businessman and takes him into a backroom for a private dance. She panics and slaps him when he tries to feel her up, after which her boyfriend (STEVE) storms in and throws him out. Scene cuts to Steve and Ruby waiting for a train. When Steve pops to the toilet a man approaches him from behind and slits his throat. Donning Steve’s hat and trench coat the killer finds Ruby and stabs her, pushing her in front of the approaching train. We do not see the killer’s face.

Scene shifts to a brothel that Ruby worked at: MELODY RANCH. Two detectives, WADE and CAMPBELL inquire about the murder but do not get much information. After they leave, a man, TRENT, barges in and aggressively harasses one of the dancers, GIA, even though he has been banned from the club. Some of the girls share stories about their former customers.

When Gia’s friend LENA leaves the club a while later Trent pursues her and violently attempts to extract information out of her about Gia’s whereabouts. She manages to drive away and upon returning home calls detective Wade about information she has pertaining to Ruby’s murder. Lena calls Gia for company but before the latter can join her Lena is brutally murdered following a call from a restricted number. When Gia arrives she finds her friend’s body knifed to the wall.

The police search Trent’s apartment and find evidence he has been altering his appearance. He becomes the prime suspect. But not all is as it seems...
