MIDARA AT MIDNIGHT

19-year-old Midara is dying. The witch, Griswalid, has stolen her powers and her youth. Under the witch’s spell, Midara is an old woman for all but one hour a day, after midnight, when she reverts to her true, younger self. But she doesn’t have long to live.

With her tiny dragon, Preen, Midara sets off on a quest to defeat Griswalid and reclaim her life. Along the way she enlists the aid of Thane, a young squire, Nyles, a stalwart middle-aged knight, and Frederick, an eccentric friar/sorcerer. Their journey to the witch’s lair in the mountains is fraught with dangers, and surprise attacks by Griswalid in disguise. The witch even kidnaps the King’s twin babies to steal their life-force as well.

Thane and Midara grow closer and fall in love on their quest -- he’s able to see her true beauty, and her real age, thanks to Frederick’s spell. The final battle unfolds when Griswalid captures Midara. Thane, Nyles and Frederick must storm the witch’s cave on a rescue mission before Griswalid can extract all of Midara’s and the babies’ remaining life-force.
