LAPD undercover cops, Kelly, and Brie, are partners, and cousins with very strong family ties. They are very good at their job but don’t always go by the book.

When trouble at a local nightclub occurs, Kelly and Brie are put on the case. They go about business as usual, well, as usual for them anyway, which means they work on their assigned case, but also make time for what really matters to them… who murdered Kelly’s husband a few years ago?

But after Brie is shot in the line of duty while chasing a “perp” in the nightclub case, Kelly is assigned a temporary partner…a rookie, Eric. The young officer tries to be respectful and learn on the job from Kelly, but soon realizes he may be in over his head, since she certainly has her own agenda. Kelly and Eric have been told by their Chief that being involved with Brie’s shooting investigation has been assigned to other officers’ is off limits, but Kelly just can’t help herself at times. Many times. She wants to find out who shot her cousin, and unbeknownst to Eric in the beginning, there’s that issue about looking for the person responsible for her husband’s murder.

Now Kelly must deal with the anger from Brie’s husband, Dan, who feels that she is responsible for his wife getting shot on duty. This creates great strain within the tight family, but it also leads Kelly reluctantly, to a new love, with Dan’s good friend, investigative journalist, Andy, who becomes her confidant, lover and “partner in crime”.

As Kelly and Eric continue to follow through with their assigned case, it slowly becomes clear to her that one case may be related to the other; the nightclub, Brie’s shooting, and Kelly’s husband’s murder. And at the center of it all is real estate developer extraordinaire, Martin Groves. It seems that the popular, budding mogul, with his eye on the mayor’s office, may not be the proper businessman he wants everyone to believe. When all roads eventually lead to Groves, Kelly now believes that he may be responsible for many unlawful dealings within the city. But it’s not until she discovers that Eric has a less than pleasant past with the unscrupulous Groves as well, that she finally is willing to work with her rookie partner as an equal, and it all starts to come together, and gets way too personal.

When Groves finds out that Kelly and Eric are getting too close to the truth about him and his business affairs, he kidnaps Kelly’s young son whom she has tried to hide away at tennis camp. Big mistake! Very big! Kelly insists on going it alone to get her son back safely, but the people in her life just can’t let that happen. The LAPD including the Chief and of course Eric, and who knows who else shows up, go toe to toe, head to head, gun to gun with Groves to determine whether her son will survive, and if the city of Los Angeles will thrive.
