The signature prince of a kingdom is looked upon by trusting citizens and his proud father to maintain constant glory -- to do things as they have always been done before -- and yet he yearns to instigate change.

Time Period: PresentStory Location: USAThe Pitch
KengSIGNton, a kingdom of anthropomorphized road signs, bursts with carnival-like festivity, awaiting the introduction of the newly born sign prince. The king holds his newborn sign baby up and declares, "He will do things as they have always been done before. A role model for all -- the signature prince. And so, we name him, 'SIGNature.'"
As a toddler, SIGNature playfully switches signs of the sign folk around him using his magical, artistic hand, that not only switches a sign image, but also the demeanor of whoever sports that sign. The prince has a gift! The king discourages him, reminding him signs don't change. After all, the human kingdom relies on guidance from road and other signs to go about their daily affairs, and in turn they offer a generous remuneration that runs KengSIGNton in all its glory. There is mutual trust between the human and sign kingdoms.
Through his teenage and eventually university years, SIGNature secretly continues using his magic art to help friends switch signs. He is excited for initiation day, when he’ll be assigned a sign image, and no longer remain a “blank” sign. Perhaps an underwater sign to guide deep-sea divers? What an adventure! The king dismisses SIGNature’s ideas reminding him he has to sport a truly useful sign. SIGNature is appointed a "Dead End" sign and told to report to sign duty like the rest of the signs. He promises to do his part and be true to his sign.
While many signs are happy, SIGNature’s is aware many others struggle each day. The "Twisted Road" sign suffers from a back ache. Changing his sign to a "Straight Road" would straighten his back. His best friend, Leftie, dreams of taking a right turn to travel the road not taken, but Leftie is a "Left Only" sign. Why can't he help these signs? Change is good!
SIGNature “crosses paths” with SIGNopractor and his three minions: sneezing, puffy-eyed SIGNus, the sultry Miss AsSIGNed, and tattooed thug, AssaSIGN. They put on the perfect humanitarian façade and explain the importance of change. SIGNature ponders over teaming up with SIGNopractor to bring about the much needed transformation, or accept his own "dead end" fate. He must confront his internal struggle to either break his father's and the citizens' trust and show them how the kingdom will benefit, or forever hold his dutiful silence. If he chooses change, he must eventually learn how to approach it…
SIGNature discusses his dilemma with best friends SIGNderella and Leftie and decides the time has come to bring about change.
At SIGNopractor's quarters, SIGNature is ecstatic to see numerous sign folk lined up for a sign switch. They all support him! SIGNature wholeheartedly plunges in, and switches the sign images of many sign folk.
The next day, sign folk frolic around, showing off what they can do with their newly switched signs. Some have new types of signs the humans are really appreciating! Without a doubt, it’s been the best day in the lives of many sign folk. SIGNature is pleased. His talent and ideals were credible after all! KengSIGNton will flourish like never before.
Back in his quarters, SIGNopractor snickers watching excited signs going about their duty, using a robotic bird camera. He shares with Miss AsSIGNed, SIGNus, and AssaSIGN that he has perfected his sign editing software, installed in the robotic bird, Birdbrain, that will wirelessly edit sign images when it hovers above sign folk. SIGNopractor zaps sign after sign, mocking and transforming SIGNature’s work to his own evil concoction. SIGNopractor can now sit back and enjoy the pandemonium, awaiting an inevitable uprising by humans and sign folk. That's when he will save KengSIGNton from the disobeying prince, and unworthy king and queen. His family will take over as saviors.
There is comical chaos everywhere with Birdbrain switching the signs on unsuspecting sign folk... Cars are towed away. (When did the "Parking" sign switch to a "Tow-away Zone" sign?) Women are kidnapped. (That used to be a "Free Wifi" sign. Why does it say, "Free Wife"?) Cars crash and highways are clogged. The president of the human kingdom declares a state of emergency. News channels convey the same message: SIGNature is responsible for this destruction, and he along with his family must be banished. The king and queen are heartbroken and ill -- their son betrayed the kingdom and them.
SIGNopractor uses his evil software to switch back signs and restore peace and order. And hence, he portrays himself as the savior. SIGNature is devastated to discover the truth about SIGNopractor. But just when he thinks everything’s lost, he’s in for an even more ruthless discovery...
Eventually, a more mature SIGNature, bearing the brunt of his emotional journey and mistakes, finds a way to protect KengSIGNton from SIGNopractor, regain the respect of the human kingdom and KengSIGNton, save his family, and win redemption of his ideas for change. In a happier turn of events, the story comes full circle as a more abundant KengSIGNton bursts with carnival-like festivity, awaiting the most spectacular event…
