Aftermath - "And slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us"

They're coming back! In this age of sequels, reboots and re-imaginings, is there any other phrase which most epitomises the time were living in? While movies like Independence Day: Resurgence failed to capitalise on this, H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds holds within its final pages the answer. The Martians had those pesky Earthlings on the ropes until the Earth resorted to goddamn biological warfare; so why don't the Martians try again, with just one or two more antibacterial precautions?
There is a world of technologically superior beings out there and very little decent real estate in the neighbourhood. It's not a question of if but when the bell rings for round two.
In Aftermath, we follow four people who have been changed by the war. From the Shock-Jock DJ who because the voice of the resistance to the accountant who unwillingly became a soldier for the wrong side, each must deal with the person they were before the war, the person they became during it, and the person they are now. Through these interlocking stories, we discuss the unintended consequences of some actions and the very much intended consequences of others. We see what these people will do, for themselves and for others. We see what they will sacrifice for and what they will fight to keep. We see the blackest selfishness and the brightest generosity that the human heart can provide.
In the plan for the first season, the protagonists (and some of the antagonists) will be shown in present and in flashback; showing who they were and how they came to be who they are now. In the second season (if I dare to be so bold), this will reverse, showing the characters in present day and in some flashforwards, as Round #2 gets underway. Season three would see the start of that war proper.
We expect the budget to be comparable to a Syfy original production and expect to appeal to a wide audience base.
