Time Period: PresentStory Location: USASpecial Effects: Minimal SFXTarget Audience: Young AdultFino Ricci, orphaned 18 years at age 12, now lives with his Granpda, Orso. Orso one morning gets gunned down outside of their house by a couple of thugs. The shooter is Marcus Jackson. Although there are witnesses, to Orso's, and subsequent murders, the police seem unable to capture the serial killer. Fino goes hunting for the killer, while the detective investigating his grandfather's murder and on the trail of the serial killer, befriends Fino. During the investigation, the detective, Jerome Miller, discovers he knows the killer. It's his Police Chief's, Frank Jackson, estranged son.
As Fino is on the hunt for the killer, the killer knows a few things about his stalker. Where he lives. Where he hangs out. More importantly, where his fiance, Sarah Trane, lives. Eventually, the heat will be applied to both parties, just from the interactions and chases that pursue. Fino's neighbor, Diego Rodriguez, who was his grandfather's best friend, mentors Fino into giving up his plans for revenge. Diego remembers the Chief, who was a detective investigating Fino's parents murder 18 years ago. He picked up on something not right with this man and his story. However, he never paid it no mind. Not until now. Meanwhile, Detective Miller checks on Fino's parents murder, on the insistence from Fino from a dream. He soon discovers an odd thing in the report and shows Fino. It's not proof, but it's something. He continues to pry.
Meanwhile, as Fino gets closer to finding Marcus, Diego is gunned down in his home by a drive-by shooter. It's never known who did it. It is Frank Jackson, for Diego getting to close to this investigation and letting it be known that something wasn't right in Fino's parent murder investigation. This prods Detective Miller to dive deeper, though he is coming classified and hidden files. All from the authorization of the police chief. The bodies continue to pile up, which brings the FBI into the situation. Then, Marcus visits his friends, fellow gang-bangers he is no longer associated with, and asks them to shoot up Fino's home. That does no good, so Marcus goes after Sarah and kidnaps her. He wants Fino to come to his house, alone or Sarah dies.
Detective Miller, in the midst of his search for "something" about Fino's parents murder, sifts through the Police Chief's office. He finds it. A report that will bring up red flags and warrant an investigation against the Chief. While this is going on, Fino shows up at Marcus's house. He sees Sarah and Marcus in the living room. She is bound and gagged. He finds the opportunity to bust in and get the drop on Marcus. While this is going on, The Police Chief is looking for Jerome. He is told that he's at the station. Fran, the Chief, goes to the station and finds Jerome in his office, with a folder in hand. One that is labelled "Ricci". The Chief has the drop on Jerome and already concocted a story to cover his tracks when Jerome is found dead in his office.
During the climax, Marcus tries to turn the tables on Fino, but Fino shoots him. Hurt and in pain, but alive. Detective Miller's partner, Detective Joe, shows up with a few police cars. They rush the scene and help Fino and Sarah escape, taking Marcus into custody. Meanwhile, in the Chief's office, Jerome gets the drop on the Chief and shoots. Frank falls to the floor, hurt and in pain, but alive. Afterwards, the Chief is taken into custody.
After the culprits are taken into custody, Fino and Sarah visit Jerome in the hospital. The final scene is Fino and Sarah sitting at his family's gravesites, having a picnic lunch, with their baby boy, Orso. The final image is of Fino standing next to the headstones surrounded by butterflies, while his arms are outstretched.
