UNDERSTANDING VOICE: Developing and amplifying your creative DNA
When a script feels like anyone could’ve written it, producers move on. "This writer has nothing to offer" they say.
In this sharp, no-nonsense session, veteran story consultant and former film exec Karel Segers tackles one of the most misunderstood assets in screenwriting: voice.
Voice isn’t surface-level "style." It’s identity. It’s why you get hired.
It’s the mark of authorship—the difference between content and cinema.
Great screenwriters think like Auteurs, in the tradition of the French New Wave. Because your script isn’t just a story. It’s a perspective on life.
Write pages that don’t just get read—but get remembered.
Start building your stylistic and thematic fingerprint now.
Write what only you can write.

Touched on some interesting and valuable information, but it wasn't presented very clearly. One thing I learned, though: I don't know enough about other screenwriters.

Very good content and advice and will help me to find a more distinctive Voice. Pitching to Agents and Producers is very difficult.
