Humberto Guida has the talent and charisma to save the world from evil and injustice, but felt a calling for a career in media and entertainment instead. He is a uniquely-rounded, multi-hyphenate talent who has established himself as a distinguished pop journalist, writer-producer, actor, and comedian.
Humberto’s credits include, among others, television stints as the anxious, hilarious host/lead actor and producer on LATV’s fan-favorite series Wachale, a Talk Soup-styled sketch show; As a sharply-witted writer for the controversial cartoons Homies and Ceasar & Chuy; As a nationally-featured on-air correspondent and producer for various entertainment news programs on the NBC Universal subsidiary Mun2 Network; And as the irreverent, quick-witted host and executive producer of the eye-opening presidential election special Voto Latino presents Decision ‘08, for which The Los Angeles Times hailed him as “The young, Latin Bill Maher.”
Humberto comes to Hollywood by way of Miami, where he made a name for himself as a local media personality after a manic-yet-supportive Cuban-American upbringing. One of Hollywood’s distinctive new acts, Humberto has exploded onto the comedy stage, sharing his curious take on life and the world around him at legendary clubs such as The Improv and The Comedy Store. In 2009 Humberto created his own comedy sketch show The Daydreamers, presented by the L.A. Comedy Festival. It compliments a webisode series and features Humberto with a cast of rising young comedians performing his sketch material. L.A. Weekly called it “must-see, politically incorrect fun.”
Putting to use his degree and background in journalism, Humberto has covered pop culture and social trends in print through award-winning features, investigative exposes, and poplar columns for publications across the country including The Miami Herald, Miami New Times, Village Voice, Ocean Drive Magazine, Vegas Magazine, BPM Magazine, Clubplanet.com and Us Weekly.
Humberto is regularly featured as a pop cultural commentator on various programs and documentaries, most recently as a featured comedian on SI TV's Latino 101. Humberto is currently developing television and film projects that range from talk shows to scripted comedies, while continuing his career as on-air talent and writer-producer.
