I am an optioned/soon to be produced screenwriter. I am excited to begin production on my feature with a May 1, 2015 starting date. I was fortunate to sell my first screenplay and I am now looking to branch out into different genres.
I know I'm going against all advice to change genres after a successful script (stay with what got you there), but I'm fairly new to this and I don't feel I have anything to lose in trying out different genres to see what I really want to spend my time writing.
I am a risk taker and a career jumper.
After several years as a professional volleyball player, I returned to school to finish my degrees in Political Science, History and Geography. I taught Political Theory before attending Law School. After Law School, I decided it wasn't the career for me as I didn't want to spend my life in a courtroom so I went into business consulting.
I have always wanted to be a writer (outside of academia) and began writing a legal thriller novel before the rigors of life forced me to shelve it.
Two years ago, I decided to give screenwriting a chance and I believe I've found my perfect writing outlet.
I have recently completed a docu-series reel that I co-created with the producers of Deadliest Catch and Storage Wars. We are taking it to the networks after the holiday break and fingers are crossed that it gets ordered to series.
I look forward to joining this community and sharing my experiences as well as learning from others so we may all prosper in this amazing medium.
Cheers to all
BT
