When I was growing up, my mother made the mistake of letting me have a television in my bedroom. Late night reruns introduced me to The Living Dead, Replicants, and “Blue Velvet”. Even when those new worlds were terrifying, I found myself captivated and unable to look away.
This fascination developed into a love of story-telling, filmmaking, and also as a way of exploring both cultural and personal fears. After obtaining a degree from Boston University in Broadcasting & Film, I continued to simultaneously hone my story-telling skills, and process the disturbing things happening in the world around me.
Most truly exceptional sci-fi and horror, are well-told stories that also comment on contemporary society – and in my work I like to think I’ve managed to do both.
My ultimate goal is to re-create the viewing experiences I had when I was younger, by creating ‘desert island’ television shows and features: fantastical worlds, and elaborate mystery boxes, that invite the viewer to watch, and re-watch – yet derive something new from the experience every time.
