A native of Santiago, Chile, Dante Betteo immigrated to the US at the age of 15 with the idea of becoming a filmmaker. He has a long family history connected to cinema, as his father and grandfather were film producers in Chile before being forced out by political turmoil.
After studying journalism and photography at Sam Houston State University, at the age of 24, he moved to San Francisco where he landed his first job in television. He started off as weatherman, and was promptly promoted to news reporter, to later land a coveted position as news anchor. Dante later worked on radio as a news reporter/announcer, returning later to television to continue to grow as a producer, news director and anchor.
As producer, Dante has been nominated numerous times for an Emmy Award for Best Newscast, and Best Documentary. In 2006 he was honored with an Emmy Award for Best Youth Oriented Programming. During his extensive media career, Dante has helmed numerous documentaries, and developed the first ever real-time interactive photography tele-course in the nation. As a college instructor he teaches producing and television production from a real world perspective, giving his students the benefit of 32 years in the business.
Dante has written several screenplays and his extensive expertise in project management, visual language, hands-on production and post production know-how, puts him at a unique advantage to leverage his creative and management skills into feature film projects. He is currently in post production of his feature film titled The Other Barrio, which is based on a short story by Alejandro Murguia.
