This is a bit of a rough draft since I am in something of a creative transition. So I will try to update it a bit along the way.
I have been interested in screenwriting for years and used to have larger than life ambitions and now mostly enjoy it for the simple things and figure if I get somewhere with it great, if not, then I enjoy the journey.
I used to be more focused on the big Hollywood Blockbusters and now I watch fewer of them and more of the smaller stuff. I enjoy some Hallmark movies these days, something I am almost embarrassed to admit, but the world can use a bit more softness and sweetness and less dark and edgy. I think the last several Batman films have sorta pushed me over the edge along with my Breaking Bad viewing habits. I may just be recalibrating.
I like reading scripts of people working to develop and I find it at least an enjoyable hobby from time to time. I don't think I have the ambition to sit in the rooms day after day week after week with TV like I used to dream of doing, but I may be able to write a screenplay or two that means something to me and/or to help others do the same.
The Buddhist slogan, 'The journey is the goal' is more my style these days. I enjoy a range of screenplays these days, but mostly avoid horror, except when their themes and substance match my interests. I enjoy the process of just understanding film and how it relates to the journey of life. Love watching 'Off Camera with Sam Jones' these days and the comments from some of the actors on the journey.
I used to want to crank out content and these days I would be happy with producing a few good films in my life, or even one, and/or helping someone else produce something meaningful for them and the audience. I used to be interested in how many screwed up affairs could be in a TV project and now I am more interested in how people can make something interesting and inspiring and not such a downer.
I like projects with minority characters shown in interesting ways. Enjoying romantic comedies a bit these days on tv as well as the Hallmark films mentioned.
