Writing has been a secret passion of mine for years since my first creative writing assignment in fifth grade. I had a difficult time believing my writing skills were good enough to make a living as a writer so I ended up on some interesting, but different, paths. I have led a fascinating life, both professionally and personally. From corporate travel to executive administration to massage therapy, my professional life has been about challenging myself to be the best that I can be.
After some coaxing by friends and family, I decided that I needed to find out if I had it in me to be a screenwriter. I didn’t want my future self to be upset at my past self for not giving the writing thing a good try. Don’t they say that you always regret the things that you didn’t do? My personal life has been filled with challenges and learning experiences which influence my writing. Like everything else that I’ve done, I dove in and read as much as I could, studied everything and absorbed as much as possible. I believe we are always learning and I like to challenge myself to find how far I can take things.
So far I’ve written a few things that I’m proud of, including a feature, a TV pilot (and series bible), and a few shorts. I’ve received awards for some of these and the local film collective is producing one of my shorts. I am constantly working on new ideas as I refine old ones and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me in this industry.
