I just completed a rather hefty historical novel and have it in the hands of a professional editor, and hopefully we'll get it ready to submit by the end of the summer.
I've done well in a number of screenwriting competitions, and am negotiating with a foreign filmmaker with one of my scripts. I was the 2006-7 winner of the International Filmmakers Alliance Feature competition. A different script also won four film festivals in 2011: the Long Island International Film Expo, the Los Angeles Reel Int. FF, the Thrill Spy international FF, and tie for first in the Ticket to Hollywood Int. FF.
My scripts have also done well in others competitions; Top 25% of the 2011 and 2012 Page Awards; Top 3 of the 2011 Bahamas Int. FF; Top 4 2011 Cailfornia Independent FF Slate Award; Top 5 of the 2011 Happy Writers; Top 6 in the 2010 Action on Film Festival; Top 10 of the 2012 Red Inkworks, 2012 California Film Awards, 2012 Contest of Contest Winners, and 2011 Jacksonville FF; Top 13 of the 2011 Los Angeles New Wave; Top 18 of the 2011 Writers on the Storm; Finalist in 2010 & 2012 Beverly Hills FF's, 2011 Urban Media Makers FF and 2012 Spirit Quest competition; Semi-Finalist in the 2011 Flat Shoe/American SC, 2011 Rhode Island FF, 2011 Screenplay Search; and another script was Quarterfinalist in the 2011 Flat Shoe S. competition.
I'd like to say that all the above "successes" earned me a sale, but it didn't! That's why I'm hard at work on several new scripts that I believe have commercial appeal. If my novel succeeds, I hope to turn that into a screenplay as well.
I'm married with twin daughters and live in beautiful South Florida.
