Born in Germany. Grew up in Canada. Lived all over.
I started off as a journalist, then got interested in photography and was seduced by the fashion industry and consequently spent 20 years as a fashion photographer, working first in Toronto, then Milan - really all over Europe - and the U.S. I branched into people/lifestyle ad photography, as well as celebrity & executive portraiture. It's been fun.
That led to directing and I've shot a small number of music videos, corporate videos and commercials. Didn't set the world on fire, but it woke up the desire to get into long form.
I tried screenwriting in 2004, thinking I'd write a short that I could direct myself and use as a calling card. Found out writing was a long harder than I thought it'd be, but also found out that I loved it.
That short grew into a full sized screenplay called PROPAGANDA. It was optioned by Ted Kotcheff, film director and Exec. Producer of Law & Order S.V.U. He convinced me that - big surprise - I was a comedy writer! He has kindly mentored me through the writing of two screenplays, one which was my spec, and the other - B.U.M.S. - was an idea he's been developing. Neither has been produced yet.
I'm currently finishing another spec film script which I had to put on hold because I got ambushed by a nasty cancer. Happily I beat it down, but it took a few years.
I'm also developing and writing a TV series based on some of the crazier adventures I either experienced or witnessed in the fashion world.
My favorite genres to write are action/comedy and romantic comedy.
I'm twice married, once divorced, have one daughter, and a big goofy chocolate Lab who is convinced I work for him.
As of February 2013 I'm moving to L.A. to play in the big sandbox called Hollywood. If nothing else I hope to get a really nice tan.
