For nearly 30 years I've owned an agency that books professional speakers, authors, experts, notable presenters and celebrities for speaking engagements all over the United States and in various parts of the world - for major corporations, associations and organizations.
I have also had a little side life as a writer: Author/Editor of one of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books; three children's books (one which one six national awards for Best Multicultural book/Best Picture book); I've won two international awards for songwriting (as a lyricist); and have written articles and had stories in a few publications, including singer Gloria Gaynor's book, "We Will Survive."
Truth be told, if I could leave everything behind, I'd be a screenwriter. I just finished my first feature-length screenplay, inspired by a true story (it's a project that took me years and years to write because life kept getting in the way). I also wrote a short screenplay for a contest last year that limited the page count to 10; it took second place. I've refreshed the story and expanded the script to 18 pages and recently entered it into three shorts contests.
I have an ability to write stories and have several projects in mind. Even though I've studied the craft of screenwriting for 25+ years, I'm just now beginning to exercise what I know - while discovering I still have much to learn!
