In graduate school, I wrote, “Finding Home,” a feature-length thesis script that turned into the official “National Adoption Day Movie” available on Amazon and through other major retailors. The film went on to two international film festivals where it received distribution from Kanopy, First Run Features, and Allied Vaughn.
After the success of “Finding Home,” I spent the next several years as a filmmaker in NYC. Under the representation of Langtons International Agency, I wrote seven commissioned screenplay adaptations and edited existing screenplays by New York publishers and independent film companies. In addition to writing, I was hired to direct and produce music videos, commercials, and a PBS documentary where I assembled small crews with low-impact gear and nimble mobility.
In January, I wrote, directed, and produced a second North Carolina-based feature film, “8 Slices.“ It’s scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release later this year.
From the humble beginnings of wedding videography, my professional experiences in curriculum building, lecturing, cinematography, editing, and story-telling (documentary, commercial, and narrative) will give the media studies majors a practical, diverse, enriching, and inspiring look into making a career in the industry.
