Polita Glynn is the Director of the Pew Fellows Program in Marine Conservation, which provides fellowships to outstanding natural and social scientists, researchers and other individuals across the globe to support innovative projects aimed at developing and implementing solutions to critical challenges facing the world’s oceans.
Before working with the Pew Fellows Program, she was a freelance project director, educator and media writer/producer specializing in marine conservation, film education and public affairs. As a writer/producer, she worked for production companies and non-profit organizations, and her independent documentaries, featured on PBS and cable television, have been funded by the State of Florida, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Council. As an educator, she has worked with the Massachusetts State Department of Education, the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the Film Society of Miami and the U.S. Agency for International Development on the design and development of media and multi-cultural curriculum, public outreach and seminar programs. She has worked as a freelance journalist with publications in the Miami Herald, Vista Magazine, Miami Today and Marquee Magazine. She continues to work as a writer on independent films projects.
Polita holds her bachelor’s degree from Bennington College and a master’s degree in education from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. She studied film and television production at the University of Miami.
