Biographical Note
I am a 59-year-old aspiring writer who has dabbled in creative writing since the age of about 17. Events well beyond my control over the last 26 years have stilted my ambition to become a successful author. My first foray into formal training to become a writer began in the early 1980s when I registered for a distance learning program with the then London-based Writing School, whilst still resident in my native Zambia. I am a qualified civil engineer (University of Zambia, 1988) and have worked in the UK as a Bridge Engineer since 1989, though I am currently out of employment and concentrating on establishing and progressing my writing career.
At the age of just 13, I wrote a letter to the editor of the internationally renowned Time magazine. The letter was a commentary on the USA/USSR co-operation in space exploration and was published. In the early 1980s, I entered a national fiction writing contest and won. Both instances are indicative of my passion and desire for writing which I have further progressed in the last five years or so by successfully completing the UEA/WCN fiction writing courses at both beginner and intermediate levels. I have also recently completed the Penguin Random House Constructing a Novel course.
Towards the end of 2022, I began to actively develop my screenwriting pedigree and aim to become both a published author and produced screenwriter within the next couple of years.
