I’m a writer and lawyer. Story-maker and truth-teller. A first generation Jamaican immigrant, I grew up in a small house in the Bronx with nine other people.
When Princeton recruited me to play basketball, getting a single dorm room was a big draw. I graduated cum laude in Politics and African American Studies with a $250,000 academic grant for grad school. I earned tassels from Berkeley (Journalism and Latin American Studies), Stanford (Law and Business) and UCLA Extension (TV Writing).
I’ve been a model, reporter, prosecutor, clerk to an appellate federal judge. Defended accused white collar criminals for a lot of money and helped political asylum seekers for free.
My work and constant curiosity have driven me to every continent on earth. I’ve run legal clinics in Africa, and marched with penguins in Antarctica.
Temporarily went blind because of MS; the partial paralysis on my left side is likely permanent. Even though I move slower than I used to, my dreams and plans for the future are stronger than ever.
I’ve been a spokesperson for disability, diversity, education, entertainment, and the law.
Life is raw material for stories. I share parts of mine in every script I write.
