A DARK BREED
During a torrential mountain storm, renowned cryptozoologist Professor Harry Marks races to a hidden facility built into the side of a mountain. Inside, powerful ultraviolet lights are failing—the only thing keeping something trapped beneath the earth.
Marks enters the tunnels armed with a shotgun and UV weapon. There he encounters pale, human-like creatures with black eyes, razor teeth and grotesque bone growths. Intelligent and terrifyingly fast, they destroy the remaining UV systems. Marks is injured and barely escapes before the tunnel collapses.
Hours later, Bob and Julie Miller are driving through the same mountains with their teenage daughter Tara and thirteen-year-old son Ozzy when a lightning strike causes them to crash through a guardrail and plunge down the mountainside.
The family survives—but they are stranded.
They eventually discover an isolated cabin belonging to Professor Marks. Inside are guns, ammunition, medical supplies, cryptozoology books and disturbing drawings of a strange woman covered in bone-like growths. Ozzy discovers a detailed map of tunnels beneath the mountain. One section is marked ROOKERY.
Bob then discovers a hidden door leading into the mountain.
Inside is a secret laboratory—and a steel cage containing a severely emaciated young woman.
She is barely alive, covered in strange growths and pregnant.
Bob wants to leave her behind. Julie refuses.
They free the woman and bring her back to the cabin.
It is a catastrophic mistake.
As the woman feeds on blood, her body rapidly regenerates. Then she attacks Julie, biting off two of her fingers and eating them.
The family realizes the woman isn’t human.
Then she gives birth.
Two pale, black-eyed creatures emerge from her womb. They are already capable of hunting, climbing and killing. They immediately feed on their own mother.
And something much larger is coming.
The Alpha emerges from the forest—a seven-foot-tall creature with ivory skin, enormous curved bone growths jutting from its skull and the intelligence of a seasoned predator.
The family barricades themselves inside the cabin. They discover that ultraviolet light burns the creatures, giving them their only defense.
But the creatures are relentless.
The newborns begin breaking into the house while the Alpha stalks them from outside. Bob arms himself with a shotgun. Julie, wounded and barely able to use one hand, takes a pistol. Tara and Ozzy carry UV flashlights.
Their only hope is the truck.
When they attempt to escape, the creatures attack. One newborn is killed, another crawls through the house, and a gunshot ignites the cabin. The family is forced into the forest.
Then Tara disappears.
Bob and Julie hear her calling for help and race after her—only to discover the creature has killed her and is using her voice to lure them into the darkness.
Tara is dead.
The remaining three flee toward the truck.
But the Alpha is waiting.
It attacks Julie, mimicking Tara’s voice as it brutally kills her in front of Bob.
Bob reaches the truck with Ozzy. The burning cabin illuminates the driveway as the Alpha launches onto the vehicle, tearing through the shattered windshield and reaching for Ozzy.
Ozzy blasts it with the UV light, burning its flesh long enough for Bob to throw the truck into reverse.
The truck rockets down the mountain.
The Alpha is torn from the vehicle—but Bob is fatally wounded and the truck crashes down the forest slope.
Ozzy survives.
The following morning, he climbs from the wreckage and reaches the mountain road. Black SUV's and armed tactical soldiers surround the burned remains of the cabin.
He sees the soldiers.
He raises his hand.
For one brief moment, he is safe.
Then something moves behind him.
The Alpha survived.
It charges.
A moving truck passes between Ozzy and the rescuers, blocking their view.
When it clears, Ozzy is gone.
His scream echoes through the forest.
A violent struggle.
Ripping leather.
Snapping bones.
Then silence.
CUT TO BLACK.
