A woman and a little girl, both victims of war atrocities, find themselves in a position to judge all there is.

Both Lilith and Mara are survivors of a vicious war. The war is the result of an Emperor trying to gain favor from the gods. However, the gods themselves are entangled in a dispute about the will of their late Matriarch which demands a line of mortals as her successor. A turn of events lead to Mara being catapulted at an early age to become steward for the Matriarch. Lilith tries her best to guide the little girl while dealing with her own past.
As events unfold, it is revealed why the Matriarch made her will. Everything becomes entangled in a web of conspiracy, deceit and outright hostility. All these conflicts ironically end up relying on one seemingly trivial problem, healing Mara's tortured soul.
