Episode Synopsis
After her sister Pualani mysteriously disappears near the sacred cliffs of Kaʻena Point, Honolulu psychologist Noelani “Noel” Kealoha struggles to hold onto her rational worldview while investigating a series of disturbing events tied to Hawaiian legend. A cryptic journal predicts disappearances at sacred sites connected to the ancient Night Marchers, while an enigmatic amnesiac named Adam Kane enters Noel’s life under impossible circumstances. As Noel follows the journal’s clues across Oʻahu, she encounters phenomena that defy psychology and science, forcing her to confront the terrifying possibility that the dead still walk among the living and that her sister may not be gone at all.
This project specifically targets the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) market. The series is set in Hawaii and although the themes are universal, it is expressed through the multi-cultural lens unique to Hawaii. Many of the shows filmed in Hawaii could be filmed anywhere else as the subject matter is generic and Hawaii is used only as a beautiful backdrop. Akua is different. Hawaii, the land itself, the culture and its people are integral to the story. These stories could not be told in any other setting.
