A Resilient teenage girl—caught between the haunting legacy of her family and the surreal horrors of a twisted parallel world. In Andrea’s mind, she is the hero; in others’ minds, she’s the villain. To save what’s left of her family, she must battle both literal monsters and the darker versions of herself.

Sixteen-year-old Andrea Refuge discovers she is a human/insect hybrid engineered by Evilton Industries and its brilliant, ruthless director, Dr. Philip Evilton. When a rift in the Rockies allows giant insects to pour into our world, Andrea becomes both target and weapon. In Inception Heights—the elastic, memory-driven realm where perception becomes law—Andrea confronts Siren-children, carrion swarms, and the reanimated echoes of her brother. Guided by a Giant Bee and hounded by Sentinels, she learns that the so-called cure for her ‘difference’ is obedience—and that the portal is built from trauma as much as tech.
The story’s climax is a tense showdown in Philip’s yard: he puppets Andrea’s brother to force surrender; she refuses to be rewired into something ‘normal.’ Instead, she severs control at its source and breaks the system holding her. The victory is costly, but Andrea claims her identity and her agency. The novel closes with her stepping into leadership and light: A NEW CHAPTER HAS BEGUN.
Tonally and thematically, the screenplay aligns with dark, character-driven narratives like Coraline and A Wrinkle in Time—melding unsettling imagery with emotional stakes and a reality-bending engine. I come from a screenwriting background (two science fiction pilots shopped), and I write toward cinematic tension, sharp visuals, and high-empathy stakes.
