While accompanying her director beau, BIFF, to a film festival, and becoming frustrated by so-called fans who don’t know her, BRIE receives alerts on her phone that she assumes are hate tweets. They're actually messages from her lawyer RAY. JR Kimble, an independent critic, gets served during his online broadcast. He rejects arbitration. During the trial, Ray overplays a cyberbullying angle irrelevant to the case. Brie also reveals that her name isn’t Brie Larson, a name she hasn’t even trademarked. This allows JR to win the legal right to mint and hold an NFT of Brie’s digital likeness, rendering her unmarketable as he plans to sue anyone using her name and likeness. Brie’s agent, TORI, reaches out to her assistant, DEL, a fan of Brie’s. Soon, Del is confronted by JR, her ex. He makes no mention of his legal shenanigans. Instead of Ether, to buy back Brie’s identity, Del collects ethyl ether. Brie tosses the bottle, the fumes shut down the agency office. JR texts Brie to meet in a remote part of LA to explain himself. Brie excoriates him, threatening violence. He texts afterwards that he’s raised the price from 20,000 to 25,000 Ether.
JR’s friends (known as the Jeremys) grow antsy, but he shakes off their pressure to sell to play the “long game” for maximum rewards. Biff reaches out to an elderly woman in South Dakota, also named Brie Larson, to get her to testify in an appeal and bequeath her name to Brie. With IRS constraints on her finances, she rushes to change her name, but finds an ex-porn star who had already done so with all possible spellings. After rejecting Biff’s quickie marriage idea to hyphenate her name, Brie tries assuming another actress' name. AMBER HEARD accosts Brie at a CVS right as Brie tries getting photos for the process. Brie wins this fight but gets knocked out by Amber’s sister. Due to Tori’s pressure Del intends to resign, but Tori persuades her to stay. Biff attends the funeral of the now-deceased elder Brie Larson. His Brie arrives during the funeral and they make up. JR texts her about the CVS fight. Brie rages and Biff has to physically subdue her on the hotel bed to end the call. A hotel worker enters with a shotgun assuming Biff is doing the absolute worst to Brie. Back in LA, Brie meets with RENE, her manager, for a game plan. Biff meets Del and they hit it off. He hires her for his film’s production. Brie gets jealous and paranoid in her unemployment until she meets JR, this time at a diner. He behaves unscrupulously with a waitress, and taunts Brie. She opens his gift and he feigns having been cut by her letter opener. In anger, she actually stabs him. No witnesses. He flees. In a desperate bid to destroy her phone, she accidentally stabs her hand and is hospitalized.
A year later, JR is presumed dead. Thanks to CBD therapy, Brie has repressed the stabbings and enjoys her simple life. Friends visit, play coy about her weight gain and invite her to an industry party. AMY SCHUMER, obsessed with Brie's new physique, lustfully flirts, and gropes her. Brie responds by fisting Amy which in turn triggers memories of the stabbings. ALISON BRIE, her weed dealer/fake friend/acting rival, tells Brie she found JR. At JR’s Vegas “condo”, they break in and beat him up. Alison then knocks Brie out and ties her up alongside JR. She agreed with JR only to ruin Brie for KODY's sake. Kody is a former co-star of both Brie and Alison. Alison kept him under conservatorship while blaming Brie's rise for his downfall. Alison gets the Jeremy's from the airport, then holds them all hostage to make the NFT deal. JR won't give up the password until he gets Del. Brie fetches Del from Sam's Town, speeds back, attracting LVMPD to the condo. JR proposes to Del, she says yes and the sale goes through as Alison’s phone chimes. Alison orchestrated with the SEC to apprehend the Jeremys, but LVMPD busts in. Alison flees. Brie and Biff witness JR and Del getting hitched. Upon leaving the chapel, Brie runs over Alison, who then gets apprehended. Brie’s career resumes as she stars in the film based on the script JR gifted her, which turns out to be Del’s reimagining of Basmati Blues.
