Malcolm Campbell seemed to have it all. Handsome, charming and successful, Malcolm is the owner of several of New York's hottest restaurants and a best-selling author with a highly rated show on The Food Network. Unfortunately, he has some major issues with commitment.
When his latest break-up victim – a popular morning show reporter – announces to her vast television audience that her ex-fiancé has just set the World Record for broken engagements, Malcolm's world is turned upside down. Cancelled reservations, rotten salmon, broken freezers… it's almost like he's cursed.
His luck gone bad, and his business tanking right before a culinary showdown with his arch-rival, Malcolm is visited by the spirits of some of the most famous World Record Holders – a veritable Who's Who from the Guinness Book – including the Siamese twins Chang and Eng, and the debonair, yet irascible, General Tom Thumb. They tell Malcolm that he has brought shame to the hallowed fraternity of Record Holders…made a mockery of their names. They have come to give him one chance to 'unbreak his record' or else face the dire consequences.
Malcolm's mission is to track down his ex-fiancées and find the one with whom he is meant to spend his life. Skeptical, but getting desperate, Malcolm agrees, and accompanied by the twins and General Thumb sets out on a cross-country road trip – meeting hostile exes, a skeptical Amish farmer and an assortment of colorful characters along the way.
But is it too late? Can he look into his past to find the real love of his life?
A unique buddy-comedy – with a romantic twist – Broken Record is a movie about hope, friendship, and the journeys we all take to find that one special someone.
