In 1962, eight-year-old James Russell lies in a hospital bed reading about Wyatt Earp when a mysterious cowboy appears and places a gleaming bullet in his hand. The encounter feels like magic, and James carries the bullet with him for the rest of his life.
Decades later, James presses the bullet into the hand of his daughter Melissa as she heads west to Las Vegas, determined to rebuild her life after a failed marriage. Along the way, she stops in Leadville, Colorado, to recover a Colt revolver her father purchased but never received. The seller is dead, his widow is hiding secrets, and Melissa soon begins seeing a man no one else can see: Doc Holliday.
Drawn together by the missing revolver, Melissa and Doc uncover hidden truths while forming an unexpected bond. When the job that brought Melissa west falls apart, a stroke of luck gives her the chance to purchase a ranch and an abandoned ghost town. As she transforms the forgotten settlement into a thriving frontier destination called Darlin's, she begins building the life she once dreamed of sharing with her father.
As the town comes back to life, so does Melissa. Her friendship with Doc deepens, but so does her connection to Matt Morrison, a widowed attorney and devoted father whose young daughter quickly becomes part of her world. While Matt struggles to understand Melissa's attachment to an invisible companion, Doc discovers he is far more connected to the living than he ever imagined.
When trouble comes to Darlin's, Melissa finds herself caught between two very different heroes: a man who believes in the rule of law and a man who helped write the rules of the Wild West. The arrival of Kate, the great love of Doc Holliday's life, forces him to confront the truth about why fate brought Melissa into his world. As magic, history, and destiny collide, Doc realizes his purpose may never have been to win Melissa's heart, but to help her find the life, family, and future she was always meant to have.
DARLIN'S is a supernatural Western romance that reimagines the legends of the American frontier for a modern audience, blending humor, heart, adventure, and second chances into a story about love, destiny, and letting go.
