For old pals, HENRY and SANTI have little in common beyond a peculiar affliction each of them is infected with, a disorder called hemosilleomus, also known as 'vampire's disease' for the peculiar symptoms involved such as a craving for blood.
That craving can lead to some pretty destructive behavior. But some of those infected with hemosilleomus try and lead a normal life… like Henry.
HENRY is meek, and unthreatening, and keeps to himself. He sees this disease as a medical issue, not an excuse to drink blood. He couldn't hurt a fly, and he's definitely not a vampire…at least he doesn't think so.
There are others living with hemosilleomus who take the disease's nickname quite literally. They romanticize the notion that it is in their nature to be bloodthirsty. Even believing they are real life vampires. It is why many of them turn out to be serial killers…like Santi.
SANTI is an arrogant douchebag with a taste for dark designer clothes and big women. He wears custom-made ivory fangs whenever he's on the prowl, despite the fact they get knock out of his mouth by his plump victims. He's a clumsy killer. He's on the run from a trail of sloppy murders he left behind out West. He has nowhere else to go but home, and back in the life of his reclusive childhood friend.
When Santi comes home, he finds Henry working the nightshift at a local television station. Henry always dreamed of being a producer on the late-night news, but presently, he looks over infomercials that air as most people sleep.
Once they're reunited, Henry delivers Santi a startling admission. Apparently, nice guy Henry lost control and killed a couple of co-workers and, of course, drank their blood. This is the same guy who reviles Santi for his lack of respect for human life. Henry's explanation is ‘he just couldn't help himself.'
Henry's victims are attractive late night news correspondents from the local TV station where Henry works at. But he doesn't stop there.
Egged on by Santi, Henry then goes on a messy binge of failed and quite embarrassing attempted murders. Making matters worse, is his first assignment from the of-late undermanned news department??" to chase down a story that could very well lead right back to him.
Never far from the scene is an oddly mannered DETECTIVE DOMINGUEZ. He wears cheap suits and hair plugs and he suspects everyone and anyone of wrongdoing. Detective Dominguez comes around from time to time to question Henry on his missing co-workers. He can tell Henry's hiding something.
Amid these extreme circumstances, Henry meets a girl named JEAN. She's a sweet, unassuming chatterbox from his Church Group. He likes her. More importantly she likes him.
But leave it to Santi to interfere. But what's new? Henry is infected with hemosilleomus because 15 long years ago, Santi interfered. Having his old friend back in his life only reminds Henry of that. But...while Henry blames Santi for all his problems, it turns out he has no one else to turn to for help.
Fortunately for Henry, covering up his crimes are the only things that come easy, thanks to how oblivious and incompetent the authorities prove to be every turn of the way.
In the end, as his life unravels, Henry is forced to confront the terms and consequences of who he is and what he has done. And to do that, he will have to face himself and resolve the tenuous relationship with the person who made him this way... Santi.
