By 1980, the New Age movement had somehow turned a fringe, esoteric ideology into pop-culture coolness — and Jennifer Decker was not going to be left behind. Eighteen years old and in search of a “soul tribe”, Jennifer settles on an Indian guru and his red-clad followers as her North Star. When the group announces a headquarters move to the U.S., Jennifer’s path takes a jagged turn — from Seattle’s bright city lights to a dusty outpost carved across Oregon’s high desert. Eternal Blessings centers on a young woman's journey of self-discovery as she leaves her home for a religious sect, rises diligently through the ranks, and then falls, unwittingly, into an intelligence unit buried deep within the organization. Partly based on real events, as portrayed in Netflix’s Wild Wild Country, this cautionary tale reintroduces the group in all its glory but infuses it with a fictional arc, allowing the narrative to expand, when needed, through a central character.
