Chris, a musical, rebellious and stubborn Prince from the Kingdom of Engleland has fallen in love with a peasant. When they are caught, his outraged father, the King of Engleland, sends him to Fairy Tale Boot Camp, a school where Princes and Princesses are sent to learn the essential skills for ruling a kingdom and being a perfect Prince or Princess. From the correct wave and when to use it, jousting for the Princes and spinning wheels for the Princesses. Chris's first few days there do not go as his father would like, as he becomes friends with Chad the Third of Slegborg, the ultimate Prince Charming. Chris very quickly comes close to being sent home, mainly thanks to Chad. Meanwhile Kirsty, the peasant girl who Chris was caught with, has become a servant at the school. Chris, inevitably, bumps in to her, is caught again and faces his final warning from the head of the school, Queen Margaret. However, Chad strives to help Chris to see her.
Chad becomes the leading troublemaker at the school as Gruber, the Augustus Gloop of the Fairy Tale World, becomes suspicious of his behaviour and his motivations behind his relationship with Chris. Chris too becomes suspicious and together; he and Gruber catch Chad trying to betray him. Chad tries to tell them that he is doing it for Chris' own good as Chris doesn't really want to be King, he wants to be with Kirsty and that Chad is just trying to help that happen. Chris, unbelievably, agrees with Chad and when Chris finds that he is to marry the worst of the Princesses, Brittany, a ditsy blonde American, he considers trying to get Kirsty to run away with him. Whilst at the school, Chris also meets Flora, a short spiky haired, rather masculine build, twenty year old Scot and Elizabeth, very shy, black haired, Gothic looking twenty year old who seems to burst into tears without for no reason.
However, Chris is still suspicious of Chad's true motivation and whilst searching Chad's room, Chris finds all the evidence he needs to see that Chad is planning to try and take over Engleland using a historical loophole regarding Princes and who they can marry as well as Kingdoms without a King. Chris then learns that he is to be paired with a Princess from the school who he is to marry and is forced to make the crucial decision to say goodbye to Kirsty and reluctantly goes along with the School's and his father's regime. The stage is soon set for Chris' wedding with Brittany but when the veil is lifted, it is Kirsty who stands before him. It had been a test by Chris' father, who had arranged for Kirsty to be at the school, to ensure that Chris would do what is right for the Kingdom and when he does, he gets the ultimate reward, the love of his life.
The main themes explored are that of family values, love and relationships, coming of age and a satirical look at celebrity culture and fame. Chris is central to all of these themes and plays a key role in exploring each from different angles. Although set in a Fairy Tale world, Fairy Tale Boot Camp is not a children's film and would be more suited to people who are in their late teens to early twenties.
