Episode Synopsis
Marilyn is attempting to film The Misfits in 1960 but struggles with the stress that has built up around her since her founding. She goes to see a therapist: Dr. Ralph Greenson. He is an actors therapist and was renowned at the time. He begins conversing with Marilyn about her early struggles with her insane mother and orphanage upbringing while also tackling the fact that she now has married three times and is still unhappy. Her life is falling apart and Dr. Greenson is the only one who might be able to put it back together.
Marilyn is an 8-10 episode miniseries that could develop into an anthology series. It explores the relationship between Norma Jeane Baker and Marilyn Monroe as they fight to survive global stardom, immense pressures, and familiar issues. The show will focus around therapy sessions and conversations with Dr. Ralph Greenson which separates this project from the other versions of Marilyn Monroe. The theming is dark and sad because of Monroe's tragic end but it also focuses on resilience, self-confidence, and integrity. The other Marilyn Monroe films/shows cover slight pieces of her life or give wide-ranging views that I do not believe does justice to her life. This show is also based loosely on her Autobiography: My Story by Marilyn Monroe.
