Just try to imagine if you will a satire take on your average classic 90s romcom like for example my main inspiration for this movie was Notting Hill (which is my favorite romcom & second favorite movie). I’d say the film takes a creative approach to what a typical 90s romcom would look like with a touch of realism & self-awareness, it also touches on subjects that aren’t really presented that much considering that the main character is a bisexual black woman. All in all, Moonstar is a funny, sexy, & heartfelt take on romcoms & just a love letter to the genre in general especially since it’s set against the beautiful city of Miami during the summertime which fits since the story is all about love & self-discovery.
