PROTECTING ROSE
The Story
Nate Stone is a veteran Milwaukee Deputy who has survived a rough past to become a tactical, highly protective officer. While driving a back-country road, he rescues a woman from a burning car wreck and narrowly survives a sniper attack from the woods. The woman has no memory and the physical marks of a previous kidnapping, but she has no idea who she is or why she is a target.
Nate takes her off the grid to a safe house, naming her "Rose". While they hide, a powerful man named Mitch Larson is working behind the scenes to find her. Mitch is her uncle, though Rose doesn't know it yet. He has a deadline: Rose turns twenty-five in a matter of days, and if she isn't dead or under his control by then, he loses his grip on a $50 million family estate.
The mystery deepens as Rose’s memory begins to surface through her skill at the piano and fragments of a traumatic past in Chicago. Meanwhile, Nate and his partner, Rick, realize there is a "leak" in the department helping the hitmen track them.
The story comes to a head in the final act when Nate finally uncovers the truth: Rose is Cassandra Marie Townsend, a missing heiress who witnessed her parents' murder years ago. At the same time, Rose is kidnapped and taken to her uncle’s estate. It is only there, faced with the man who killed her parents, that her memory fully returns. She must fight through the effects of her uncle’s drugs to save herself, while Nate stages a hospital breakout to get to her before Mitch can force her to sign away her inheritance and stage her "suicide".
