Professor Tom is a demon from another dimension. He likes to invent things, machines, robots, gadgets, whatnot. Some time ago, he ended up building a portal, and brought an army of creatures known as shadow demons to earth, unintentionally bringing about the apocalypse.
The pilot is set 7 months after this incident occurred. Professor Tom lives in a shed in the woods with the creepy witch chef, Sorgina, and the shape-shifting boss man, Dopple. The only reason they let him live with them is because he knows how to keep the lights on, literally. He figured out that shadow demon blood is an efficient source of fuel. So he goes out, hunts demons, looks for supplies, comes back, chucks the blood into the power generator, and they let him stay.
This is his way of trying to make up for basically ending the world. Things get worse over time as the demons he let loose begin to realize that he is the enemy. Any survivors end up thinking the same and ultimately want him dead for causing the apocalypse. Talk about a double whammy.
Things change when a new set of enemies pop up known as The Shadow Lord’s Emissaries. They are a collection of various objects brought to life by The Shadow Lord, who is currently trapped in a giant crystal. Vex, the only human member, has a major grudge against Professor Tom. The only thing stopping her from killing him the first chance she gets is the fact that they need him alive.
Their mission is to kidnap Professor Tom and use the dormant power in his halo to break The Shadow Lord free. The only problem is that Professor Tom’s halo is broken and he has no idea how to fix it.
On his quest to not die, Professor Tom will make a lot of enemies, but he will also make a lot of semi-friends. In the end, he mostly just wants to not die.
