Synopsis (Short – 800 char):
After 70 years hiding in Sherwood Forest, 112-year-old Nigerian exile Afam Ezeudo is found by census manager Nora Blake. He still believes the Crown wants him dead. In 1920 Isiuja, the young prodigy dreams of a white English princess who calls him "Rosy Morn." A missionary smuggles him to England, where he rises to Royal Curator and falls in love with Princess Alina—the woman who shared his dream. Framed for treason by Prince James, Afam is sentenced to hang and pardoned at the gallows. Believing him dead, Alina drinks poison. Banished and unaware of the pardon, Afam vanishes for seven decades. Nora's discovery now forces him back to Nigeria to clear Alina's name.
Why This Series Now:
1. Decolonial Romance: No white savior. An African artist enters the palace as an equal, commissioned to sculpt the heir.
2. Two Timelines, One Love: Season 1 moves between 1920s Isiuja and 2004 Nottingham — prophecy, palace intrigue, and a census that awakens history.
3. Built for Awards & Binge: Two powerhouse leads (Afam at 16/40/112, Alina), iconic practical locations (Sherwood, Isiuja riverbank, Nottingham Castle), and a final image that never leaves you.
Season 1 Arc – THE CALL:
Eps 1-3: 2004 census uncovers Afam in Sherwood; intercut with British missionaries arriving in Western Africa.
Eps 4-6: Missionaries push inland; young Afam's shared dream with the princess surfaces.
Eps 7-8: Prophecy awakens. Afam is forced to leave Isiuja. (England begins Season 2)
Comparables: The Woman King (scale), The Crown (palace intrigue), The English Patient (doomed epic romance).
Writer's Intent: What does it cost to be remembered correctly? Afam was pardoned but never told. Alina died a queen in spirit but not in law. The census isn't about counting him — it's about correcting the record.
