Robby McRae and Clive Garrington are the co-owners of the worst little theater in DeKalb, IL - The Tinseltown Triplex, a place that is lucky to sell a single seat for any given show. Robby, a hopelessly optimistic cinephile, enjoys the perks that come with managing a theater, but Clive's recent debt to a Chicago loan shark has their business in jeopardy. Inspired by a local college's repertory shows, Robby suggests re-running classic movies...and keeping 100% of the profits. And the idea is a runaway success.
Until the MPAA learns that Robby and Clive are violating the Public Performance Law, that is. Suddenly, the Tinseltown Triplex is a giant bullseye as assassins - a verbose cinephile who sparks with Robby, and a pair of bickering professionals - descend on the small town, with Robby and Clive in their sights.
That is, of course, if Robby and Clive - who are constantly at each others' throats - don't kill each other first...
