As per a reviewer's request, I am writing a new introduction to my main character, Samantha. I am hoping to show that Samantha is part Cherokee and Irish, with a magic heritage from both sides.

I am still having some problem with character introductions. Any advice is welcome.

Updated the character descriptions and dialogue. Hoping this is better.
