Description
Shore Scripts created the anatomy articles in response to repeated requests to share successful scripts from our contests so that other emerging screenwriters could learn from their examples. Placing in a screenplay contest can create value for a writer’s IP and so meeting this request presented a challenge. How do you share what needs to stay private - at least for a while?
Deconstructing what made our Judges and readers select a script for placement, rather than publishing the script in its entirety, was a way to meet this challenge. And, we think, it is even more, useful to writers considering entering our contests. We thank our former Winners and Finalists for sharing their scripts with us and allowing us to share our evaluations with a wider community. Read on to find out what, for us, makes a great one-hour pilot script.

Story Analyst • Producer • Competition Director/Staff
Shore Scripts was set up to help emerging screenwriters break into the industry.
Producers, production companies, and agents won’t read unsolicited material. However, all of the former is needed 99% of the time in order to gain that first credit. So, if they won’t read your work, how do you go about getting anything made? It’s a catch-22 situation.
Shore Scripts is made up of a small number of filmmakers working in the US and UK film industry. Along with our Oscar, Cannes, Emmy, Golden Globe & BAFTA-winning judges, we have strong industry connections. Over 100 production companies, agents & managers are all on board to read each year’s best scripts. We also recently set up a directors' roster, creating another avenue for writers to have their work considered.
What we can ensure is that if your script leaps off the page, asking to be made, we have the means to get it into the hands of the most suited filmmaker or company. There are obviously no guarantees after that point, but it will be out there and stand a chance.
Our goal is to help writers forge careers for themselves in this notoriously difficult industry.
