"Dead Broke" TV Pilot

Dead Broke

Martin Williams (23-27) finds himself home again for the first time in years.
He'd found success working for a marketing firm, and because of hard work
was moving up in the company, but life had other plans. Martin's mother passes
away unexpectedly. This along with his father's illness gave Martin no other choice
but to return home with hopes that he could help the family business re-capture it's
former glory. In order to do that first he had to invest money into the buiding, and
certain other funeral home necessities. He sunk all his savings into the cause, but
still found himself needing more money. With his family in bankruptcy no bank would
loan the money he needed so Martin had to use alternate means, insert Russian
Uncle Ivan here. Ivan Putin one of the richest, and most feared men in america, he
(Martin's mother's brother). Martin went to him for help in the form of a loan which Ivan
unknown to Martin saw as more of an investment. Thing was since Gregory, Martin's
dad was black and a "nigger" according to Ivan it was an investment that had to have
a fast return, faster than Martin expected. Martin assures Ivan that it would, and took
the money, and that's only the start of his problems.

In taking on the funeral home Martin also takes on his father, and brother. Chase is
his younger brother who stays in trouble, and theres his father Gregory who's illness
has caused him to begin to lose his mind. He often claims now that Martin's mother
was a whore, and that Martin is no son of his only to turn around, and thank him for
being so good to his old man.

Martin meets Michelle who works at a local coroner's office, She isn't the typical girl
that Martin would go for, but she might fit perfectly into his world, only she's hiding a
big secret.

Martin uses his background in marketing to get thebusiness back on track. He stages
funerals, pays paramedics to put businness cards in the deceased's pockets, wallets,
purses etc. hoping that it will lead the families to request his services. He convinces a
jumper his life is worthless, and that he needs to jump all while offering his services. I
mean if you were Dead Broke what would you do?
