Welcome to Part 1 of a two-part interview with Aditya Ezhuthachan, Head of Development for Palomar Pictures.
Aditya works for Sigurjon Sighvatsson, a veteran producer with over 40 feature films and television series to his credit, including BROTHERS, ARLINGTON ROAD, WILD AT HEART, KALIFORNIA and BASQUIAT.
Offering rare insight for aspiring screenwriters, Aditya was kind enough to share his honest perspective and advice.
Part 1 is about the craft of screenwriting.
In Part 2 we discuss the business side: some of the ‘dos and don'ts' and what to expect if your script is accepted by a producer.
With the soul of an artist, the enthusiasm of a beginner and the expertise of a professional, I'm dedicated to creative work and encouraging creativity in others.
Fostering effective storytelling isn't just a job for me, it's a way of life. I hone my storytelling skills on my own female-forward, inclusive screenplays, as an occasional screenwriting instructor, and frequent friend and mentor to fellow writers and their projects. I was also author/editor or co-author/editor of three writing anthologies: Now Write! Screenwriting, Now Write! Mysteries and Now Write! Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror.
As a writer: 113 produced film, video and audio scripts for marketing, education and entertainment, including the indie feature film GUITAR MAN (19 awards - two for the screenplay,) an Emmy-nominated Public Works video, an environmental video for Levi Strauss (three awards) and five interactive projects for the Museum of the U.S. Army. Unproduced, I have a TV pilot under option, an award-winning spec comedy feature, and several contest Semi-Finalists.
As a content creator: my production background led me to script and screenwriting as a specialty. Shorts I directed, wrote (or co-wrote) and produced (or co-produced), include music videos, the metaphysical romance, Eternal Waltz (13 honors), and three episodes of the Anti-Heroine scripted audio anthology.
