Description

THERAPY presents an interesting central conceit. In this film, which is mostly two characters (MEREDITH, a therapist, and GARRETT, a man who goes to her for an all-day therapy session), we slowly uncover the dark and disturbing past of an unstable, former cop. And as the two of them talk to each other, and some tragedies are revealed, we eventually learn that the two of them are actually connected - through a past death (his son).

While the main premise here is actually pretty good, the execution proves to be a bit problematic on most levels. After a while, this starts to feel very verbose and claustrophobic. As it stands now, this really resembles a one-act play for the stage much more than a fully developed feature film.

I think that the writer needs to figure out how to create a great deal more suspense and also introduce some other subplots and viable targets for Garrett. We need to feel as though the narrative is truly building throughout instead of remaining static and expositional as it does throughout the therapy session.
